Accelerated, Hybrid EMT Program Prerequisites
The Commonwealth of Virginia's Office of EMS prescribes a number of pre-requisites and co-requisites from all students seeking initial EMT certification. Students may register in advance of completing these requirements so long as they are completed before the first class meeting. Emergency Training Solutions, LLC is unable to offer exceptions to these requirements.
The following pre-requisites must be met prior to the start date of the program:

The student must be 16 years of age or older

The student must be able to perform physical tasks as outlined in the Virginia Office of EMS functional position description

Must provide proof of a current flu vaccination
Virginia Office of EMS Policy TR-35 fully details the requirements for entry into an initial EMS certification program.
The following are co-requisites which must be met by the established deadline in the course outline:

The student must hold or obtain an AHA HeartCode BLS or Red Cross BLS certification. The certification may not expire prior to the end date of the course.

The student must obtain critical incident management, hazmat awareness, and terrorism awareness certifications. These include IS-5, IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, AWR111, and AWR160.
