Virginia Required Pre-Requisites & Co-Requisites

The Commonwealth of Virginia's Office of EMS prescribes a number of pre-requisites and co-requisites from all students seeking initial EMT certification. Emergency Training Solutions, LLC is unable to offer exceptions to these requirements. We have established updates to our pre-requisite and co-requisite requirements for the Summer 2026 semester and beyond as noted below.

Pre-requisites (proof to be submitted at course orientation)

• Meet the requirements prescribed in Virginia Office of EMS Policy TR-35

• Certificates of completion for the following courses: IS-5, IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, AWR111, and AWR160​

Co-requisite (incorporated into EMT program)

​

• Obtain certification in BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association
