
EMT Program Pre-Requisites
The Commonwealth of Virginia's Office of EMS prescribes a number of pre-requisites and co-requisites from all students seeking initial EMT certification. Emergency Training Solutions, LLC is unable to offer exceptions to these requirements. We have established updates to our pre-requisite and co-requisite requirements for the Summer 2026 semester and beyond as noted below.
Pre-requisites (proof to be submitted at course orientation)

Meet the requirements prescribed in Virginia Office of EMS Policy TR-35

Obtain or provide record of your current-series flu vaccination - required for entry

Certificates of completion for the following courses*: IS-5, IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800, AWR111, and AWR160
*Students requiring registration or technical support for the above courses should contact the FEMA and Texas A&M teams. ETS does not directly administer these programs and will be unable to assist with troubleshooting.
Co-requisites

Complete the AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers course during orientation

Complete a background check with the Office of EMS through Field Print - must be done within 5 days of course start date
