Noah Hillstrom, BS, NR-P, FC-P
Owner & Director of Education
Noah became an EMT in 2002 and started his EMS journey with the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad where he recently completed two terms as the agency's chief. He works full time as the Emergency Medical Services Chief for Madison County, Virginia. Noah is passionate about EMS and enjoys working with students on their journey to become EMTs. He developed this program and has been director since 2014.
Joey Carls, MS, MPA, EMT
EMT Program Director
Joey has assisted with the EMT program since 2017 and in recent years has taken on progressive responsibility for the management of the EMT program. He has a 20-year career in higher education and currently works for UVA's finance office. Between 2016 and 2020, Joey was an active member of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad where he served as a crew captain, preceptor, and member of the Board of Directors.
J. Forrest Calland, MD
EMS Physician
Dr. Calland serves as our program's physician and provides clinical counsel to the program director and approves the educational and clinical outcomes required for student success.
