Accelerated, Hybrid EMT Program

The accelerated, hybrid EMT course is designed to prepare the student for certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), as defined and recognized by the VA Office of EMS and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. The course content includes the knowledge and skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at the basic life support level with an emergency service. Following successful completion of the course, students will register for the National Registry Certification Exam which must be completed to become both a Virginia and Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician. Many of our students become volunteer and career EMTs while others work as ED Technicians in various hospital systems.

Our program does not qualify students for academic credit and is not directly affiliated with any EMS agency. We do partner closely with the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad and UVAHealth for clinical placements.
